Rachael Dunlop, PhD

Dr. Rachael Dunlop trained in Australia and, after fifteen years of research in age-related diseases, joined the Brain Chemistry Labs in Jackson in 2016, where she works as a Senior Researcher. Her work focuses on neurodegenerative diseases and has led to the development of a blood-based diagnostic test for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) for which the Brain Chemistry Labs is currently seeking a commercial partner. With expertise in cell biology, she steers projects on glioblastoma, screening novel drug candidates for ALS and other neurological disorders. Her pioneering research on the neuroprotective role of L-serine laid the foundation for FDA-approved clinical trials in Alzheimer’s disease, mild cognitive impairment, and ALS. Outside the laboratory, she is an avid wildlife photographer, an outdoor enthusiast, and serves on the executive committee of the Teton Photography Club.
