Author and Historian
Samuel Western is an author and historian. Samuel wrote for The Economist of London for twenty-five years. Author of two novels, Katana (2026) and Canyons (2015), one book of poetry, A Random Census of Souls, and two volumes of non-fiction, Pushed Off the Mountain, Sold Down the River, and The Spirit of 1889: Restoring the Lost Promise of the High Plains and Northern Rockies. Samuel Western is the two-time winner of the Wyoming Literary Fellowship, one for fiction, one for poetry. Currently, he writes the Substack, Mountains and Plains Messenger. Samuel lives in Sheridan, WY.
